The Bride’s Farewell - Book Reviews

The Bride's Farewell is on the list of possible books to select for 2011 because it was a 2010 Alex Award winner. Some information:

Please post a comment to leave your review of this book and whether you think it would be a good selection for the SJSU Campus Reading program and why. Thanks.

The Bride's Farewell seems like a well written novel, but the characters and setting never engaged me. About 1/4 into it I decided to not read any further as I just wasn't looking forward to resuming my read. I don't think this book would generate a lot of campus interest and therefore I am not recommending it for the short list.

The Bride's Farewell was very easy to read, and because I'm an animal lover, I liked reading about horses and dogs. There were a couple disturbing parts;overall I think people might find the theme too familiar. I don't recommend this book for the campus reading program.

I didn't finish reading this book. I didn't relate to the characters and I actually wondered if some of the unfamiliar names and places as well as the old fashioned themes may make it particularly difficult for students to relate to the characters as well.
